I was originally going to have a full post taunting Riddles about how I beat inFAMOUS – yet another PS3 exclusive – before he did. But I’ve put in so many snide remarks already, that I’d be beating that long-dead horse.

Instead, I should properly introduce myself during my week. Talk about the girly games I like, and all that shit.
Wait, this’ll work out perfectly. I’ll countdown my top 5 games of all time, one game at a time, ending on Sunday. Usually I don’t like to include current-ish games, but fuck that shit.
Here goes!
5 – Mass Effect
Never since Shadow of the Colossus had I been so quickly absorbed into a game’s world. Recently I’ve skimped on exploring towns in RPGs, but I spent hours and hours in The Citadel in Mass Effect’s opening. Enough has been said about the incredible dialogue system, but I agree with all the praise, and I thought the combat was engaging and rewarding. I only played as an adept though, and anytime I’m given awesome powers in a video game, I’m bound to be more forgiving. Sure, the menus are cluttered as fuck, and people take issue with the side-quests, but that’s easy to overlook given the personality, depth, and just pure fun the game is. Mass Effect is the best full retail game I have played this generation, and single-handedly made me interested in Western RPGs. It needs more time to sink in, so we’ll see how long it stands up against other nostalgic giants lower down my list (like Star Fox 64 and Kingdom Hearts), but I have a feeling it’s going to hold up. Now that you bastards can COMMENT, feel free to do so with your thoughts on Mass Effect and maybe your top 5 game of all time.
