Hey! Look! Listen!

Well God damn, Square Enix finally gave us a release date for Final Fantasy XIII. A Japanese release date perhaps, but a release date NONETHELESS.

Ahem. Welcome to yet another edition of Hey! Look! Listen! I am your host Oliver Motok, and this article is being produced to the sound of Green Day’s American Idiot album. Just… just an FYI.

So gorgeous.

So gorgeous.

Oh hey, Final Fantasy XIII news
Not just the fact that the release date was announced. There was a brand-new demo on the floor of the release party, and a bunch of people got their hands on it, Kotaku being one of them.

In addition to that, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada stated: “In the past, it’s taken a year or half a year to release our games abroad, but this time we are aiming for an international release this Spring”. So. If he’s true to his word, we might see the game sooner than expected.

PS3 Slim Racks Up Big Sales
People are loving the PS3 Slim. According to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, In Japan, system sold over 150,000 units in its first three days on the market, which is phenomenal given the sales history of the PS3. VGchartz is even reporting that the system has sold over 500,000 units worldwide since its launch, which is an amazing – and unconfirmed – number.

I could offer some intelligent commentary here, but I believe that I’ll instead let PS3FTW, resident of VGchartz’s message forums, do the talking:

Elegant.

Again: Gorgeous.

Again: Gorgeous.

Oh Hey, 1UP Liked Murumasa: The Demon Blade
It’s true, they did. Check out their review here.

I was actually going to possibly buy that game today, but then I started playing Arkham Asylum and COMPLETELY forgot about it. And now it’s 1 in the morning and my GameStop is long closed. Ah well, perhaps tomorrow. Or maybe I’ll just play more Batman.

There really wasn’t much to that one, eh? A shame, I really thought more news might come out of the FFXIII release party. But hey, I did my best.

Oh, and this is still the dumbest theme week ever. Want to know what MY Grande No Water with Whip Tazo Chai count is? ZERO.

-PS3FTW offers up some sage advice there, it’s a good thing I own a PS3, it seems I won’t have to kill myself …

-Sooner than expected? They’ve been saying Spring all year, this isn’t even news.

-Marumasa has allegedly been given a sloppy translation …

  2. Riddles says:

    PS3FTW FTW. ‘Nuff said.

I’m not quite sure you’re correct on that one. To my knowledge they’ve never seriously discussed a North American release window.

I’ve heard nothing but good about Murumasa thus far. Maybe I’ll get up off my lazy ass and buy it tomorrow. Then I can offer a semi-authoritative word.

  3. SiliconNooB says:

-You must hire PS3FTW immediately, just think of all the great industry insight he could bring to the table; such as PS3 pwnes 360!!!! And Nintendo SUXXXXOR!!!!

-Um yeah they have, and reiterated the Spring window whenever asked … I’ve read enough Kitase/Toriyama interviews to know that I’m quite correct with that one, so the news should just read ’still on track’.

-If you want to know more about it Omegabyte has a review blog on CatFancy.

  4. Ethos says:

-Yeah, I’m actually siding with SN on this one. A Spring NA release has definitely been talked about before. But I was more skeptical of it then. With an official Japanese release date, I’m far more confident.

-PS3FTW comes up with more brilliant comments than just the typical “PS3 pwns 360″ and “Nintendo SUXXXXOR!!!!”. His comment is actually the best thing I’ve read on the internet in some time. Just his MANIACAL JOY is overwhelming. It’s too brilliant to even make fun of.

-We don’t have to say CatFancy here at Riddlethos. Omegabyte has a review blog over at RPGamer.

  5. SiliconNooB says:

    I prefer CatFancy.

  6. Ethos says:

Not a problem! Just thought I’d let you know it wasn’t a requirement.

  7. DarthGibblet says:

    - Also, didn’t they have some ads up around E3 time advertising a Spring release? In either case, saying the game is on track is much better than the usual Square-Enix line of “it’s getting pushed back a few months.”

    - I think PS3FTW could probably make a decent living doing this if he talked to the right people.
