News was so disappointing this week that Riddlethos decided to dedicate the Roundup to ragging on TGS 2009. There are no headlines, no megatons, and Riddles and Ethos don’t even know they’re officially rounding up until half way through the conversation!
Still, this casual conversation is a great read as the lack of news starts to visibly tear away at the young nerds’ happiness and sanity.

- I’m not sure what Sony’s plan is for re-releasing old UMD games on PSN, but so far the PSP Go screws over new PSP buyers as well. Like I said, they might change it, but so far pretty much all of the AAA titles (Crisis Core, God of War, Madden) aren’t available on PSN, so there’s absolutely no option to play them on the Go. This really sucks, because I was looking forward to picking up a Go, but I’ve got enough UMD games that it would be a pain.
- I’m SERIOUSLY looking forward to exploring more of the KH mythology with Birth By Sleep (and, hopefully, subsequent titles). Unfortunately, as the universe starts to turn more and more serious, I think the Disney characters (Mickey in particular) look more and more out of place. The biggest example of this I can think of is this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35yH1e0YdEc (not sure where this is from, but looks like too much work to be anything but official). It looks completely awesome and a lot more brutal than previous KH stuff has been, but then Mickey shows up at the end and, as much as I’d like to, I can’t see him fitting into that type of battle, you know?
- I think publishers might be over the days when they think they can slap some waggle controls onto existing games and hope they sell on the Wii. I don’t see how this is anything but a good thing for Wii owners and hardcore gamers alike. One of my friends at work picked up the original Dead Space on the “buy one PS3 game get the second 1/2 off” sale at Best Buy a few weeks ago and he said it’s the best “horror” experience he’s had in a video game in years. Not really something I’m looking for, but if that interests you, Ethos, I say go for it.
- Purity sounds made up.
That’s the secret video we were talking about, Darth. That was the secret movie at the end of KHII and the international version had the longer version. That YouTube video seems to be an edited version of both of them.
Ahhh, yeah, I figured it was something along those lines. I never finished KH2 with whatever you needed to get the secret movie, so I just found this stuff while searching for KH cinematics. Like I said, figured it looked way too time-intensive to not be legit, but everybody on youtube labels it something different. Crazy interneters.
Oh I definitely didn’t do the requirements either, but the moment I beat the game, I went on hyper-research mode as I usually do after I finish any book/movie/game that I really like and so I found the videos pretty quickly. And that was before Birth By Sleep the game was even a pre-announcement so there was no labeling confusion. We all assumed it was KHIII until Birth By Sleep was announced. Which is a good thing because it would have been weird not having Sora pulling the lead.
Just get your PSP cracked and put whatever the hell PS1 game you want on it.
@SN: I’ve been thinking about doing that in lue of getting the PSP Go (since Sony dropped the ball on the UMD/Digital conversion). Any idea how difficult it is? I generally don’t mind getting my hands dirty with stuff, but as I only have one PSP, I guess the bigger factor is what are the odds I screw it up and brick the whole thing?
