Barely Relevant…
…to the Theme Week or even the general gist of Riddlethos, but I have a soapbox so I’m going to use it, goddamn it.

It's robot Sauron apparently
Let me preface all this with saying that I love my iPod Touch. I think the iPhone is the best technology to come out of Apple. Period. It’s intuitive, attractive, the only product like it, and the only Apple product in general I endorse. However, while
this campaign is a little schoolyard, I can’t help but get excited at the promise of customization and open development. I don’t care about all the apps and camera shit, really, but while Apple knows intuition, Google knows intuition+customization. And that’s my big beef with Apple products. Sure, it’s really smart, but if you don’t like the way it runs things, it’s a big bitch to get it any other way. You can customize out of the intuitive, but it’s not intuitive to do so, nor are Macs meant to perform optimally in any way but the original intention. Anyway, since Chrome and the Google Wave preview, Google has been impressing me, so I have a very watchful eye on the Droid.
Erm…oh, and I’m going to Guelph tonight without my 360, so…umm…I don’t have that much more to say about Forza! Oh well! The point is that it’s not Bioshock 2 Week, so I’m doing just fine. I WILL have my laptop up there, however, so you’ll be hearing from me.

Barely relevant? Try not relevant at all. Still it’s not Bioshock 2 week, so I’m good.
Not NOT relevant at all! These things have games on them?
Right?
…right?
okayyou’reright
Well both aren’t Bioshock week, so I guess they have that in common …
If the Droid hopes to compete with the iPhone, I have little doubt it will have plenty of games on it.
And while I happen to *despise* the current ad campaign, I agree that anything Google does is worth looking at.
Yeah, I’ve currently got an iPhone, and as much as I like it, there’s some definite room for improvement. I really hope that the Android phones start giving Apple a run for it’s money, if for no other reason that spurning innovation through competition. I know right now there’s Blackberrys which, I think, still has the majority of the smartphone market share, but Apple’s rate of growth in the cell phone industry has been insane, and I hope other companies can keep up. Unfortunately, I don’t see RIM being able to do the same thing for the broader consumer market, even if they keep their footing on the business side of things. Google, however, has large enough brand recognition that they might be able to pull it off. I say best of luck too them. The last 2 electronic devices I carry with me everywhere are an iPhone and some sort of gaming console (down from a phone, palm pilot, MP3 player, and gaming device. Hooray for cargo pants!), and hopefully one day soon I’ll be able to roll both of those into one, catch-all electronic device. Then I can start wearing normal-people pants again! Hooray!
Oh, and RE: ad campaigns. I hate how ad campaigns have gotten so infantile recently (I know it’s nothing new, but it seems like they’re getting more so in recent years). I have the same problem with the Mac vs. PC ads (especially since John Hodgman is so hillarious, whereas I Justin Long comes across as a douche most of the time). At least for this campaign, it seems to be (for the most part) true complaints, so that’s a step up.
@Darth – Agreed. The bashing in general just seems so…like I said…schoolyard. But the things the ad campaign brought up did point to the (few) issues I have with the iPod Touch and Apple in general.
I don’t want to heavily cover smartphones on this site, but Google will have a strong enough presence in my life to weasel its way onto Riddlethos, and like Riddles said, it’s not entirely irrelevant!
