Too Human was just the first thing that jumped to mind when blending "sword and sorcery" and "sci-fi." I thought it was an excellent game for what it was, but it's hardly the stand-out example of the techno-mythological genre (or whatever I'm calling it this week).

Hrm...I guess Too Human kinda counts? Ish? I didn't mind Too Human, but I haven't beat it yet. It's not high on the list.

Also, how did I miss this conversation? Gold!

But speaking of iso games...I don't know if I've actually even played one...

Do techno-fantasy games count (ie. Too Human)? I've always loved the combination of the two. Plus, if you include them, then you can pull in all the Star Wars games :D.

@Andogo: Actually, he got married to Deep Blue. He likes older women. Actually, it was just a bachelor party with a bunch of huge nerds. There weren't any strippers, just drinking and video games and fun. It was awesome.

Heroes of Might and Magic, not that I've ever played any of them. Master of Magic comes to mind, but I think I'm one of the few people who care about that game.

But anyhow, I'm figuring you're more after the iso/3rd person action type games. So Otogi 2, which had gorgeous loading screens... I just never played the game beyond the second stage. And there's the PSP game, Untold Legends + sequel.

@DG Diablo 2 for a bachelor party? What was the guy getting married to? A unix mainframe?

I didn't run into any issues "installing" Diablo 2 on Vista. I quoted installing because I really just took a folder from one of my older machines and dropped it onto my Vista machine's file system. Then I had to set a compatibility setting or two for the .exe and it ran like a champ (albeit an aging champ). I can get you the specifics if you want, the whole thing was documented for a bachelor party a few months ago, and the email's somewhere in my gmail account, so I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find.
