Perhaps I could have been a bit more clear. I think the over-the-top music is highly appropriate at times. Huge battles, cutscenes, bosses, it all works there. But when I'm just exploring or solving puzzles and the music is pounding away it is highly inappropriate and it takes away the effectiveness of the actually epic sections.

Ethan, you my friend are sadly misguided. The GoW music is perfect for the games, what could be more suitable for an overly epic game, with overly epic action set-pieces and overly epic storyline than an overly epic score? What were you expecting? Flower?

-It's hardly a surprise that SONY doesn't want to see an end to the GoW series, so long as it's popular.

Yeah, Koji Kondo was upset too until the Nintendo Thought Police caught him.
And the classes are a cool concept, absolutely and it makes sense that it would have its own curriculum. There's just a difference in orchestrating for games as opposed to movies, even forgetting about all the technical context-sensitive mumbo jumbo. God of War is an example of a game with music that would be great for a movie and kinda sucks for a game.

I know, right? Remember when Nintendo promised a fully orchestrated score for Twilight Princess? And then it just... didn't happen?

I, for one, was crushed.

That's freaking cool with the Boston Music College thang. Epic orchestrations FTW. Hopefully the next Zelda is orchestrated. There is no reason why it shouldn't be... at least parts of it anyways. I love that fully orchestrated OoT CD.
