It's ambient in the right places and therefore the crazy-epic stuff actually has a chance to shine. Which it finally did in GoWIII Well like Riddles said, it’s no longer crazy bombastic when you’re in an empty cave or climbing up a bunch of walls. I'm just saying that GoW is quality mechanics + X, and you're getting the quality mechanics but not X. -I don't see any difference in the music between GoW3 and the previous games, it sounds the same ... It gets it right in GoWIII and the over-the-top epic music is amazing because it's in the right spots, and can more appropriately compliment the more action-heavy portions of the game. Juxtaposition is a universally useful technique. I might like games like Flower and Mario Galaxy, but it doesn't mean I want every game to be fluffy and fruity. I just appreciate good game design. And if you're going that route, let's use Final Fantasy XIII as an example. It fulfils a lot of my wishes, but if I'm able to review it, I highly doubt it will get a score higher than what I gave God of War III. I personally enjoy FFXIII a lot, but I wouldn't be able to deny its design flaws or shortcomings. You’re being incredibly vague.
