A bit late for a welcome, I know, but BLAH. Don’t care. Be happy you have a new banner to look at.
Usually, when we have a week labeled “TBA,” Ethos and I have an idea in mind, but we want to keep it secret for fun. This time, though, we had absolutely no idea what to do for the week. So we decided to do this.
Why? Well, you may not know this about us, but Ethos and I watch quite a bit of television. That is to say, we watch good television. And we tend to be fairly serious about it, watching entire seasons of shows in consecutive order, absorbing the entire experience. Oftentimes, when we get on AIM with the intent of discussing Riddlethos-related matters, we end up yakking about whatever episodes of whatever TV show we’ve recently watched.
Point being, we like good TV. We love it almost as much as we love videogames. So, for the three days that remain in this week, we’re going to talk about TV. So NYAH.
In order to get into the spirit of the week, I leave you with a clip from one of my current favorite shows, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Out of context, it’s not as hilarious as it should be. Regardless, this is one of my favorite TV moments of all time, so I’m posting it on my site, BECAUSE I FUCKING CAN.
I don’t care for it.
The show? The week? The clip? All of the above?
#1 and #3. I’ve tried watching it a few times and it rubs me the wrong way.
I used to feel that way about Sunny as well. It bothered me for a while and I didn’t understand why people liked it. It has grown on me, though.
I think I’ve given it enough time. It’s come on a number of times when I’ve been watching GO and eventually I just started muting it. I should point out that I also hate Scrubs and Arrested Development.
Although Scrubs is my favourite show, I can understand not liking it. Not liking Arrested Development is objectively a sign of no intelligence.
No, it’s a sign of so much intelligence that I’ve transcended the inconsequential fancies of Ethan Pipher’s defective mind. Thus I look down on you, and judge you.
You don’t like Arrested Development, you have no leg to stand on.
@Ethos: Honestly, I really liked Scrubs until about season 5 or so, then I think it went downhill fast Haven’t really watched any episodes since, I heard they essentially killed off the entire original cast and replaced them with new characters.
Arrested Development is honestly one of my favorite shows of all time. It seems like every time I watch an episode, I catch some joke or something I’ve missed every previous viewing (and I watch it A LOT, so that’s saying something). What happened to that show was a downright travesty.
@Riddles: Always Sunny is a FANTASTIC show and I can’t wait until new episodes start airing again. Do you watch The League at all? Between that, Always Sunny, and Archer, I think FX has become my most watched network recently (granted, I don’t watch a whole lot of TV, so that’s not a hard distinction to achieve).
Also, now I have “Dayman” stuck in my head, and I haven’t even watched the clip.
@Ethos: Yeah … I bet you loved Juno too …
I liked Juno, but it wasn’t objective brilliance like Arrested Development. Like Scrubs, I can understand people hating Juno.
And Darth, that’s just Season 9 which I view of more of a spinoff, and nobody’s killed off. Basically nobody.
And I love Season 5, I think 6 is overall quite weak except the end. Season 8 is one of my top three seasons.
And I know, AD has so many layers, forward references, multiple layers of in a single joke, I still notice things too, and I’ve seen the series at least 4 times.
Maybe it was season 6 I watched up to, then? It was whichever season JD’s girlfriend gets pregnant then moves away. Just kind of seemed like they were running out of ideas, you know?
Also, there’s always money in the banana stand.
@Ethan: Nonsense, if anything can be said to be objectively brilliant then it certainly isn’t that hipster dross.
@SN: Wait, now I’m just confused. If you don’t like Arrested Development, that’s all well and good, but “hipster”?
Bah-ha, I know. Just takes away from the already non-argument!
