Hey! Look! Listen!

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

My God, I have to get my sleeping schedule under control. Waking up until 1:30 PM is NOT ideal for a productive day; no, not in the least. Of course, I was up until 4:30 in the damned morning, so I guess I couldn’t expect much else.

That aside, let’s do some HLL-ing!

New Assassin’s Creed II Trailer Shows Off New Combat
I can’t wait for Assassin’s Creed II. As of right now it is my most anticipated game of 2009, and this trailer has served only to whet my appetite further. It has actual (gasp) GAMEPLAY this time around, mostly highlighting the game’s revamped combat system. It looks like a more brutal, free-flowing combat style – similar to what they did in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. And while there are plenty of things Ubisoft did wrong with Warrior Within, it can’t be denied that the new combat system was a huge improvement.

Okami Sequel to Hit DS, Expected to be Approximately 34231 Times Cuter
So, those rumors were true. An Okami sequel IS, in fact, in the works. However, it is not coming to the PlayStation 3, where it would surely be a graphical powerhouse. Instead, it is coming to the much more humble – but far more accessible – Nintendo DS. With the transfer to a Nintendo system comes the obligatory dose of cuteness, of course – for starters, the new protagonist is named Chibiterasu. (No, I’m not kidding.) Like the original game, players will use a magical paintbrush to solve puzzles and defeat enemies, but this time the brush will be controlled by the DS’s stylus pen. (No freakin’ duh.) The game is reportedly around 25 percent completed, and will be released in 2010.

So Yeah, Remember that Little Thing Called OnLive?
Personally I was hoping to never hear about this again, ever, but it seems that’s not to be. Just yesterday, on the official OnLive Blog, OnLive founder and CEO Steve Perlman announced that a Beta was being rolled out. So yeah, apparently they really are doing work on this thing. If you’re interested, you can still sign up. Let me know how it goes if you do.

And that’s all for today. I like to keep these things fairly brief, only touching on what really grabs my interest. But you know that already. Look for some Xenogears musings soon, and whatever other Xenosaga-related content we can come up with. Till then!
